Aid and Development Cooperation

After over six decades of official development assistance (ODA), the international community is far from fulfilling its professed goal of eradicating poverty and ensuring development for all. This reality stems from the prevailing unequal relationships in aid and development cooperation. IBON International addresses the reform of aid relationships through research, advocacy and engagements on issues of conditionality, tied aid, debt crises, transparency and accountability in ODA, and democratic development. Through its work on aid effectiveness and deepening this agenda towards development effectiveness, IBON challenges the international community to truly promote effective international cooperation for the realization of the right to development, which entails an equitable economic environment at the global level and pro-poor development policies at country level.
