Annual Report 2017

For us in IBON International, 2017 was a fruitful year as we continued to develop our work in contributing to and in solidarity with Southern peoples’ struggles. On this second year of our 2016-2020 Strategic Plan, we remained firm in stressing people’s rights and sovereignty as the primary premises in development.

With our networks and partners, our capacity development work on trade and investment issues as well as rights-based democracy were able to reach parts of Africa and Asia. Through a primer that zeroed in on big private sector and multilateral institutions, we articulated our analysis as we endeavoured to refine our program theme addressing public-private partnerships (PPP). We also continued to hone our work on climate justice.

For 2018, we will scale up our work on trade and sustain our work on the issue of militarism. We will also strive to advance our articulation of people's concerns when it comes to transnational corporations and international finance institutions. Finally, we have set to strengthen our contributions to Philippine struggles, acknowledging that we cannot ignore the development issues and worsening rights situation happening around our central offices in Manila.
