The Consortium for People’s Development – Disaster Response (CPD-DR), a national, multi-stakeholder consortium of development and humanitarian organizations that seek to facilitate the development of comprehensive community-based, and relevant people-oriented disaster risk reduction initiatives, will hold PAGLAUM: Experiences, Lessons Learned, and Best Practices from Typhoon Haiyan on November 6, Friday, from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Bantayog ng mga Bayani Auditorium, Quezon City.

 

The overarching goal of this program is to facilitate a forum wherein representatives from the academe, government, and international and non-government organizations, actively involved in disaster relief and rehabilitation, gather to discuss and experiences, lessons learned, and best practices during and after the onslaught of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013. Specifically, it intends to: (1) document response and lessons from DRR practices; (2) engage various stakeholders in a public discussion where they can identify existing gaps and issues in disaster relief and rehabilitation and in the process, articulate a more coordinated and people-oriented response to the problems at hand; and (3) launch the CPD-DR as a national and multi-stakeholder consortium of development and humanitarian organizations that seek to facilitate development of comprehensive community-based, and relevant people-oriented DRR initiatives and programs.
