Strategic Plan 2021-2025: Midterm Review Adjustments
In 2021, IBON International (II) charted its strategic directions in the face of the pandemic and multiple crises. It produced the document, Strategic Plan 2021-2025: Advancing People-Powered Democracy. The period was characterised with precarious conditions in all aspects of life, and derailed all efforts to ensuring that no one is left behind in development. The pandemic exposed the fatal flaws of neoliberal models as public institutions failed to support the welfare of the vast majority. Further, pandemic response was marred by militarist approaches, profiteering and rampant corruption.
Internally, II coped during this period despite several challenges, adjusting towards remote working, online modalities, while improving internal systems. These provided key parameters for the organisational directions of the organisation’s new strategy.
The year 2023 marks midway to implementing II’s current strategy. Changes have transpired as the dominant economic system had to recoup lost profits and attempt to assuage crises.
In its continuing commitment to address the needs and issues of the time, II underwent a midterm review process to measure its progress in implementing the strategic and organisational goals and make necessary adjustments informed by a systematic assessment of such progress and the external and internal context in which it operated. This document summarises the necessary adjustments for the strategic and organisational goals.
