The defense industry is a lucrative one in a global situation where wars (be it intra- or interstate) are waged perpetually and simultaneously. In 2016, sales of the world’s top 100 arms manufacturers amounted to a staggering USD 374.8 billion. The top five corporations among the biggest manufacturers captured one-third of that amount. Sixty-two (62) of these companies are based in the United States (U.S.) and Western Europe, accounting for 82.4% of the total sales. Zooming further, U.S.-based companies account for 57.9% of the overall sales.

The Boeing Company (Boeing Co.) is one of the leading corporations in the global arms industry today. The company’s biggest defense client is the U.S., the global top military spender.
