Aside from the debt problem, the World Bank Group’s (WBG) banner agenda in 2021 is on “green, resilient and inclusive recovery”. However, their Climate Change Action Plan 2021-2025 does not end support for fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas. In addition, the premises of the “recovery” agenda of the WBG hide corporate interests and their role in policies that has widened inequalities and worsened the impacts of the pandemic and recession to peoples in the global South.
