In view of indigenous peoples' concerns on aid and development effectiveness, several global groups are organizing the Indigenous Peoples' Workshop on Aid and Development Effectiveness to be held on June 12, 2013 at the Finmark University College in Alta, Norway.

 

The workshop is co-organized by the Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self Determination and Liberation (IPMSDL), Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), Asia Pacific Indigenous Youth Network (APIYN), Philippines-based Cordillera Peoples Alliance (CPA), Saami Council, and the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE). 

 

The workshop aims for continuing education and discourse among indigenous peoples on aid and development effectiveness, towards strengthening IP participation and engagement in the current global processes and debates on aid and development. The workshop is being organized as a side event during the Global Preparatory Conference on the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples 2014 which will take place in Alta from June 10-12, 2013.

 

The Workshop is a follow-through of IP activities on aid and development effectiveness in recent weeks, namely: the International IP Workshop on Aid and Development Effectiveness held on April 22, 2013 in Baguio City, Philippines, and the side-event on Indigenous Peoples, and the Aid and Development Effectiveness Agenda to be held on May 22, 2013 during the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York.
